An Update on the Economy.  Dr. Bob Becker, Director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University, talks with Dr. Bruce Yandle, a Senior Fellow at the Thurmond Institute and author of the quarterly newsletter, The Economic Situation Report.  Dr. Yandle, a Clemson University Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics and interim Dean of the College of Business and Behavioral Science, is a past member of the S.C. State Board of Economic Advisors and former Executive Director of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.

On the road with The Boy Friend.  Charlotte Holt catches up with actress Jessica Grové who plays ingénue Polly Browne in a new production of The Boy Friend now on tour from Goodspeed Musicals. Directed by Julie Andrews, who made her American theatre debut in the role of Polly Browne in 1954, The Boy Friend is a romantic spoof of 1920s musical comedy. It opens Tuesday, October 25 and continues through Sunday, October 30 at the Peace Center in
Greenville, SC.

The Seventh Fine Art Annual
.  Roy Scott learns what’s planned for the Charleston Fine Art Annual that takes place November 4-6, sponsored by the Charleston Fine Art Dealers Association.  He speaks with Amy Kisabeth, director of the Margaret Petterson Gallery, Johnson Hagood, owner of Carolina Galleries, Becca Ansert, director of Coleman Fine Art, and Kate Long, an artist represented at the Wells Gallery.

Our aging population: how do we prepare for the future? Jon Keith hosts an hour-long call-in program on the issues of aging. His guests include Dr. Victor Hirth, Medical Director of Geriatric Services for Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, and social worker Cora Plass from the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control during the first half of the program. He talks with Denise Heimlich, Director of Senior Wellness Service at the South Carolina Episcopal Home and Leland Humphrey, resident of a retirement community during the second half. We take listeners’ calls on topics such as making decisions for aging parents, signs and symptoms of dementia, selecting a place to live in your senior years, and the importance of exercise in prolonging good health.
