American dependence upon oil.  Dr. Bob Becker, Director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University talks with Dr. Molly Espey, associate professor in the Clemson University Department of Applied Economics and Statistics.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Dr. Karen Kemper of the Clemson University Department of Public Health Sciences talks with her colleague Deb Charles, an instructor whose Health Communications class at the Joseph F. Sullivan Center is conducting research and performing outreach in breast cancer awareness in South Carolina, sponsored by the upstate affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The Lowcountry Liar.  Glenn Hare visits with Charleston-based storyteller Brian McCreight, whose book, The Legend of the Lowcountry Liar and Other Tales of a Tall Order is available from Pineapple Press. McCreight appears October 21-22 at the South Carolina Storytelling Festival at Charlestowne Landing in Charleston, on October 26-27 at the SC Library Association annual conference at the Richland County Public Library and on October 28 at the Mt. Pleasant Barnes & Noble store.

A souvenir of the upstate.  We meet upstate musician Bobby Holliday and get a preview of his new CD: Crown of the Carolinas: the Angel’s Share, composed of songs he’s written about well-loved natural attractions in upstate South Carolina.

A visit with Carla Ulbrich. Clemson singer-songwriter-comedienne Carla Ulbrich gives us an update on her career and a preview of her performance scheduled for this evening as part of the 2005 Harvest Concert series held at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center of the SC Botanical Garden.
