Dr. Bob Becker, Director of Economic Policy and Strategy with the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University, learns about how one company seeks to facilitate play when he speaks with John McConkey, Market Insight Manager with Landscape Structures.  John McConkey visited Clemson University in February as a particiapant at the 2012 Conference on the Value of Play presented by the US Play Coalition.

Sandy Woodward learns about the inspiration for the emotional story of Captain Kimberly Hampton, a South Carolina native and the first woman combat pilot killed in action, when she speaks with Anna Simon and Ann Hampton, co-authors of the book Kimberly's Flight

Signings of the book will take place this Saturday, July 21st from 2 - 4 PM at the Books-a-Million on Laurens Road in Greenville, SC and on Sunday, August 12th from 2 - 5 PM at the Lodge at Table Rock State Park during the Birchwood Book and Author Fair.

Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite Again!
Charlotte Holt learns how to avoid bed bugs when she is joined by Dr. Eric Benson, Clemson Extension Urban Entomologist in the Department of Entomology, Soils, and Plant Sciences, and Cam Lay, Montana State Entomologist.  Then we'll learn about some of the latest bed bug research during a visit to the Clemson University insectary with doctoral candidate Margie Lehnert.  Finally, we'll travel to Greenville to learn about bed bug control methods from Carlos Melendez of Gregory Pest Solutions.

Peter Kent is joined by Dr. Gene Eidson, director of the Center for Applied Ecology at the Clemson University Restoration Institute, and Dr. Jason Hallstrom, Assistant Professor in the School of Computing at Clemson University, in a discussion about the Intelligent River Program.  We'll find out about the inspiration of the project and how through the course of utilizing technology to develop a solution for quickly and accurately measuring and mapping the data about a river led to the development of sensor technology that can be repurposed for a variety of agricultural and natural resources monitoring applications.  We invite listeners to call in via the toll-free number 888-539-8859 with their comments and questions
